Our Approach
We understand that facing criminal proceedings is a difficult and daunting time. We appreciate that clients will be worried and apprehensive as to the potential consequences. All our solicitors are very experienced and are specialists in the field of criminal defence. We are very much aware of the need to guide clients through what is often a complicated legal process. All our solicitors are firm believers in the principle that everybody is entitled to expert legal advice and representation. We pride ourselves on delivering our services in a professional, high-quality, and, importantly, courteous manner, aiming to build and develop a lasting relationship with our clients.
Keeping in Touch
We will regularly update clients as to the position of their case by telephone, email or by letter. We will communicate in plain jargon-free language. We will confirm in writing instructions and our advice within 5 working days. When clients contact us, we will respond as soon as possible but in no more than 5 working days. If something is urgent, these timescales will of course be shortened.
Office Accessibility
We are committed to ensuring that our services are available to all clients irrespective of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, marital status or caring responsibility.
We understand that it may be difficult for some clients to contact us, communicate with us and have access to our facilities. The following arrangements can be put in place to ensure that all clients can access our service.
Clients should be aware that we are situated in Peterborough on the second floor of a building, which has no lift facilities. Clients can however be seen at other locations which are situated on the ground floor or have lift facilities. In exceptional circumstances clients can be seen at home. Please let us know if you would prefer to be seen at an alternative location.
We do not have car-parking facilities. Main city centre car parks are situated no more than a two-minute walk to our office. The main Peterborough bus station is no more than a two-minute walk to our offices. Please ask for further information.
We realise that many of our clients speak little or no English. In these circumstances we can arrange interpreters to assist. Interpreters are available to give face to face assistance or can assist over the phone. In some cases important documents can be translated into clients’ own language. Please let us know whether you have any language difficulties.
Visually impaired clients can be contacted by email and electronic attachments and receive audio messages as opposed to or in addition to written correspondence. Please let us know how we can help.
We can organise a British Sign Language Interpreter or other Language Support Professional to help clients. We can also ensure that clients receive advice by email, text or letter as opposed to telephone advice. Please let us know if you would like this type of assistance.
All Courts will have their own procedures to ensure that the Court building is accessible and that there are adequate communication facilities. We will contact the Court in advance of any hearing to indicate a client’s particular needs
Accessibility
